PAVE to Hold Student Design Competition Sponsored by Target

Hollywood, Fla. (June 1, 2006) — The Planning and Visual Education partnership (PAVE) will be holding its 12th annual Student Design Competition in 2006. The competition is geared toward two- and four-year college-level students who are involved in retail planning, merchandising, and branding programs.

Deadline for entries is Nov. 10, 2006. Judging will take place on Nov. 16th, 2006, at Target headquarters in Minneapolis. Prizes include cash awards. Full information on the design challenges, how to enter, and entry forms are available online at www.paveinfo.org.

Target Corporation will be the first retailer to sponsor this competition. Executives from Target have developed the design challenges in partnership with PAVE's Education Chair Eric Feigenbaum, LIM, NY, and PAVE's Curriculum Chair, Judy Bell, Target MAGIC Team.

"This is a great opportunity that has been established for retailers to get involved with real-time design that they can apply to their specific stores. For the students to be involved with this level of project, it is priceless. PAVE looks forward to partnerships with other retailers in the future to offer these opportunities," stated Greg M. Gorman, PAVE chairman.

About PAVE
Founded in 1992, The Planning and Visual Education Partnership’s (PAVE) objective is to encourage students to study in the field of retail design and planning and visual merchandising through its annual Student Design Competition. Additionally, PAVE seeks to encourage retail management, store planners, visual merchandisers, architects, and manufacturers to interact with and support design students. This is accomplished through seminars, workshops, and PAVE’s annual fund-raising Gala with proceeds dedicated to financial aid and internships for qualified students.
